Final Blog Post (FOR NOW)

  1. Have you enjoyed adding to your Blog every week?  Explain

Surprisingly, yes! I would have never thought that I would actually like it. I think the fact that it was weekly also made it consistent which I liked but on my own would probably not do. I’m not sure if it’ll happen but I wouldn’t mind doing it in the next semester.

  1. Are you still happy with the subject you chose?  Explain

Well, I called my blog «lifestylenstuff» but there wasn’t really a lot about lifestyle. Most of my latest posts were about clothes and shoes and I’d say those kinds of posts I enjoyed most because I could express my opinion about certain things and I enjoyed it more that blog posts that required a lot of research.

  1. Did you at any time change your mind and create a different Blog subject?  If so, why?

No, I probably should have but I never really thought about it. Plus, you can kind of put shoes and fashion together with lifestyle.

  1. Did you at any time change your Blog platform?  If so, why?

No, I was perfectly satisfied with all features that WordPress provided

  1. Have you learned anything about YOU whilst creating the Blog?  If so, what?
Yes I did. The first thing that comes to mind is that I learned that I liked saying my own opinion and what was on my mind that posting stuff that was more based on research. I think because I consider my stile little less basic, it was nice to speak about it and maybe find others who think the same way.
  1. If you had to do this task again, what changes would you make – think about your time management, research skills, design skills, uploaded materials and subject matter?

If I were to do this task once again, I would definitely take it less seriously from the begging in a way that for some posts, for example, instead of basing the post solely on things I found online, I’d also incorporate my own views because, obviously, everyone can find information online unlike individual opinions which may differ drastically from what you find on the internet and it might be a lot more interesting to read that.image

Opinions on Black Friday

About two weeks ago Black Friday happened. Obviously, my Instagram feed exploded with all the offers and peoples pickups (#BlackFridayPickups). When it comes to black Friday sales, I usually only pay attention to discounts on clothes and stuff like that. A lot of shops that I like had huge sales, everyone was talking it but as always, at leas in my opinion, the clothes/shoes to go on sale are not that great.. maybe its just my luck but ok..

In terms of retail I think there are both positive and negative sides to these big sales. on the one hand, retailers can get rid of the stock that might have not sold that well otherwise. As well as that usually during Black Fridays and Cyber Mondays sales skyrocket.

On the other hand, while some may say that violence and the risk of injury during Black Friday is the biggest drawback, I’ve read a lot of different opinions online about it and most people argue against it by saying that the reason others consider it a big issue is because of the amount of media coverage it gets. in my opinion the biggest problem about Black Friday is the fact that while sales grow at this time of the year, overall they drop. that may be the reason why some companies don’t participate in this event.

image  Another drawback that I’ve noticed a lot of people on forums mention is that Black Friday and the chaos that comes with it falls right on the day after Thanksgiving.

3 Christmas Adverts 2018

John Lewis #EltonJohnLewis

In this advert Elton John is shown in different moments throughout his career in a reversed timeline. In my opinion this advert shows how one gift may be more than just a gift and can inspire the person to do big things. In fact, this is said in the advert itself: “Some gifts are more than just a gift”. Out of the three I chose, I think this is my favourite, mostly because of the song but also evoked different emotions such as happiness and peace which all Christmas adverts should do.

Sainsbury “The Big Night”

The next advert is by Sainsbury and it presumably shows a school Christmas performance. I think this advert has a very happy vibe to it. The tagline to this advert is “We give all we’ve got for the ones we love” and with that I assume Sainsbury wants to show that they really care about their customers and give them all the best they’ve got.

Marks & Spencer “Must-Haves”

And the last ad comes from Marks&Spencer. It’s called “Must-Haves” and indeed, in the video it shows you a lot of essentials you might need during the holidays or any other season. in my opinion this was the least memorable of the three and I think it has to do with the fact that it didn’t spark any emotions. It was quite fast paced and it seemed to just list things. There was also no story unlike the others.

Clothing Items/Accessories I’d Like to Own

Bags and Pouches

So firstly, I’ve been seeing a lot of similar bags/pouches surfacing around the internet and I really like how they look. I’d use it to hold simple things like hand cream, phone, wallet, etc. and because it hangs from your neck or on your shoulder, it’s a lot easier toLe-21eme-Adam-Katz-Sinding-Backstage-Off-White-Paris-Fashion-Week-Mens-Fall-Winter-2018_AKS5077-900x1350 access than if you were wearing a backpack for example. Unfortunately the one seen in the picture is from Off-White and was only given out to people who attended their fashion show.

Trousers

Lately I’ve been looking for a pair of wide trousers. these Menswear | Wide Cotton Trousers, Blackones, form Olive Clothing look good and I really like how they drape and sit on the shoes nicely. I’ve had my Dickies trousers for about three years now, I love wearing them, but because they are of a stiffer fabric, they are not as flowy as I’d want them to img_4327-1be and the crease down the middle isn’t going away even after three years which shows their quality and durability even though they cost me 30 dollars. As well as that, I’d want to have more interesting trousers like these Stan Ray hickory stripe pants.

Shoes

And lastly, I want to include some color into my outfits and I thing converse-chuck-taylor-all-star-70-ox-_green-black-egret_-161443c-1-osthe easiest way for me to do it is with colorful shoes. Here img_4326-1I put some Converse and since I have the Chicagos  (yay!), it would be nice to get a pair of Jordan 1s Storm Blue. Probably my second favorite colorway after the Chicago 1s because my favorite color jordan-1-storm-blue-white-2is blue but due to having too many blue colored clothes, these are in second place.

Outfit Ideas For Different Occasion

Country Outfit:

I got inspiration for this outfit from watching different people like Sven Raphael Schneider  and others, discussing clothing items you’d wear in the countryside. I chose to wear some tweed flat cap, a thick wool scarf, a Filson shooting jacklet for warmth but also to fit into this countryside vibe, a pair of corduroys from Ralph Lauren because cords are the coziest and the most comfortable trouser there is in my opinion. For boots I went with a pair of Red Wing 875s.

First Date Outfit:

This is just a fairly simple outfit. On top I decided to go with a black Carhartt long sleeve shirt, Junya Watanabe x Carhartt trousers and a pair of Air Jordan 1s.

Wedding Outfit:

I went for a stroller suit because it’s a bit different from a normal tuxedo but still is of a fairly same formality.

Job Interview:

The way you dress for a job interview depends greatly on what the job actually is. I decided to go with a streetwear clothing store, so the dress code is a lot more relaxed. This outfit again is pretty simple with a very “out there” colored shoes. the sweatshirt I chose is from Ronning, I really like the boxy cut of it. The trousers are Stan Ray hickory stripe pants and converse are in collaboration with Vince Staples.

How One Man Popularized The Air Jordan 1 Silhouette Once Again With a Couple Of Modifications And a Lot Of Hype

About a year ago now, a famous designer Virgil Abloh released a collection in collaboration with a popular shoe brand Nike which was named “The Ten”. The collection consisted of nine Nike shoes and a Converse with a twist to them. The shoes were split into two sub-collections – “Ghosting” and “Revealing”. The “Ghosting” shoes

used some translucent materials  and “Revealing” meant some of the aspects of the shoe were intentionally unfinished, with raw edges and stitching holes just left there with no actual stitching inside.

Today I’m only going to be talking about probably the most hyped shoe in the collection – the Air Jordan 1. Not long after its release, shoe with a retail price of $190 was reselling  for almost a thousand and the price was rapidly rising from there on. Today, as of writing this, a deadstock shoe size 8.5 US resells for $3,200 on StockX. But it’s not only the Off-White x Nike shoe that is rising in price like crazy, it’s almost every other Jordan 1, especially the “Chicago” colourway which inspired Virgil’s version. Obviously, Jordans have been around for a while and still were resold for much higher their retail price but with the release of “The Ten” the demand grew exponentially and the shoe became even more expensive.

The original Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” released in 1985. Without the problem of the midsole crumbling, the Jordan 1s from 1985 and 1994 are still worn by collectors and people who can afford a pair of OG Jordans.

How Vans Uses Social Media

vansThere is no doubt that social media plays a substantial role in retail today. Many brands use it to advertise their products and interact with their customer but today I’m going to be talking about Vans. Vans for me were always durable, stylish and most importantly relatively cheap. today Vans makes shoes not only for skateboarding which was their original purpose but also for lifestyle, snowboarding, surfing and BMX riding.

I think Vans mostly uses Instagram to interact with others. they have their official @vans account where they publish products from different ranges but the main one is lifestyle. Another one, and the one which I personally follow is @vansskate. there they post content ranging from news from the events they sponsor to new colourways or models of their pro series shoes built specifically for skateboarding. As well as that they post a lot of clips from skate videos which include pro skaters who ride for Vans.

On the official page you can get featured by posting a photo of yourself in vans gear and tagging them.

Today’s “Twttr” presentation experience

Sooooo today’s presentation went fairly well. To be honest I thought it would be way worse. But of course there is always room for improvement. I’m not really going to focus on my partner just because there is not that much to say. The only thing I would mention though is that we should have split our responsibilities a little bit more equally. I basically ended up doing most of the work (except like two slides that had MY information on them). But really I think it was all my fault because I just agreed to do it anyway. What can I do, I like working by myself more. At the same time, I can’t just discredit my partner completely. He did present well, even though he was reading the information off the slides, but almost everyone did, he read it clearly and loud enough so everyone could hear which is very important. In conclusion, because this was our first presentation this year I didn’t take it as seriously which will probably change as the time goes on. Twitter n stuff
